Dear SLO County Democrats,
No, it’s not your imagination. There actually is a non-stop deluge of drama, outrage and skullduggery coming at us from seemingly every direction.
My guess is that the Epstein files might be motivating much of the frenzied lies and dangerous nonsense spewing from the White House – as in, they’re trying to distract us. Sadly, this scandal could turn out to expose one of the oldest, largest and most successful Russian kompromat operations in history. We’ll see.
With sickening revelations about the world’s richest, most connected, most corrupt elite dribbling out of Trump’s Department of Justice, it’s no wonder maga enablers and co-conspirators in Congress will do just about anything to divert our attention:
Sic a violent, masked paramilitary force on “blue” American cities to gas, beat and kill American citizens? ✅
Kill a bunch of Venezuelans and kidnap their outlaw leader? ✅
Murder scores of “drug runners” in international waters? ✅
Attempt to extract $10 billion from the IRS (aka taxpayers) to line Trump’s pockets? ✅
Threaten war with Iran? ✅
Strongly "suggest" a federal “takeover” of the 2026 mid-term elections in “blue” states? ✅
Post atrocious, racist memes about Barack and Michelle Obama on Trump’s social media megaphones? ✅
So, we’re left to wonder: What can we do?
We at the SLOCDP believe there’s a lot we can do, right now, right here at home.
Our work has impact in SLO County: Were it not for local activism, our county Board of Supervisors might not have voted 5-0 last month to find ways to separate ICE from local law enforcement and prevent ICE from using county-owned properties. As we join others across the country, our activism bolsters efforts in the state and national halls of power.
