Gearing Up for the Next Election
Be on the lookout for the SLOCDP’s endorsed candidates for school boards and city councils from Paso Robles to Nipomo – plus Congress and the CA Legislature
Dear SLO County Democrat,
After spending time in the campaign trenches through the June primary election, we’re especially grateful that the support and hard work of Democrats like you let us claim some big victories. We held the majority on the SLO County Board of Supervisors and advanced our awesome incumbent Democrats in Congress and the state Legislature on to November!
Were it not for your support, we might not be celebrating SLO County supervisor winners Jim Dantona in District 2 and Jimmy Paulding in District 4 – or congratulating state Assemblymembers Dawn Addis and Gregg Hart, and U.S. Reps. Salud Carbajal and Jimmy Panetta, for moving on to the Nov. 3 election.
Rested and ready to go, the SLOCDP is saddling up for more work ahead, preparing to charge into the campaigns for important local races throughout SLO County – for school boards, city councils and special districts.
These are the seats where democracy touches our community most directly, protecting our children, our families, our rights, our homes, our hearts and our souls.
Participating in local campaigns and elections – defending and strengthening our democracy – is something real we can do to fight back against what’s happening in our country and around the world. Every local action makes a difference, no matter how small, no matter what any doomsayer says.
Lately, many of us have grown weary from the ever-increasing price of everything (see CADEM Insights below). We’re tired of the endless war against Iran that Trump started and now can’t finish; tired of the evermore obvious and violent surveillance state we’re living under; tired of the expanding divide between everyday Americans and the corrupt oligarchy controlling our national and international affairs.
If you’re like me, you’re sick of it. But we can do something about it where it really matters – here in SLO County.
Here at home is where we declare “not here, not ever!” to the radical right’s authoritarianism, religious nationalism and xenophobic worldview. We reject the maga book burners and hate-peddling culture warriors who push their dystopian future on us. We will fight for what’s good and right about our country – before our local school boards, city councils, our Board of Supervisors, in the state Legislature and in Congress.
The SLOCDP is working hard to elect candidates at every level who share our values of honor, kindness, decency, fairness, justice, science, medicine – core beliefs that guide our actions.
From now until Election Day on Nov. 3, it’s pedal to the metal here at the SLOCDP. If you haven’t already, please join us in defending our communities, our nation and our freedoms every day by supporting our local candidates – with your time, your money and all your heart!
In solidarity,
Tom Fulks
Chair, SLOCDP
