Post Card Protesting with Whitney!
No act of resistance, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
Every Wednesday at the SLOCDP headquarters, we gather to write our elected reps about the important issues of the day. It’s a drop-in thing, so don’t worry about being late or leaving early. Every card written is valuable!
We’ll be writing to our elected officials in California, in different states and all the way to the Supreme Court! No experience necessary; we’ll train you in a few minutes.
Whitney provides a list of possible topics, or you can write about the issues you care most about. We provide all materials: cards, writing supplies, stamps. You just write!
We welcome donations of vstamps, and A6 or larger envelopes. The event is free of charge; no donation is required.
Please do not bring your dog, due to allergies among our regulars. Feel free to bring snacks and drinks.
YOUR VOTE, YOUR POWER EVERY THURSDAY!

Labor Day BBQ.
It's time to gather again for our annual SLOCDP Labor Day BBQ! Good food! Labor Leader Awards! Good music! Great speakers! We expect a big crowd like last year with more than 400 attendees so get your tickets early (we sold out early last year) and don’t miss out. Buy your tickets here!
NOTE: Trump Tax!:
Due to EVERYTHING being more expensive because of Trump’s tariffs, wars and kleptocratic policies, our cost to host this event has spiked. As a result, we’ve had to add a $10 Trump Tax to the price of our tickets -- just another reason we must elect more Democrats to local, state and national offices!
What Else:
Bring a hat, lawn chair and water bottle. Mind the weather reports.

Enough is Enough! Get ICE Out! Protest and Vigil
Since January 2025 over 2,000 kidnappings have occurred in the 805 region that we know of. This count is going up daily. ICE has brutally kidnapped immigrants, quietly, quickly, and effectively, chasing people down streets, neighborhoods, and fields. 70% of deportees had no criminal conviction, implying the other 30% had convictions — many of which were nonviolent or minor.
Indivisible Santa Maria commends the brave and resilient volunteerism of fellow community organizations that are helping all those involved in the unlawful and racist kidnapping of our community members.
We are here to win, and will not be divided, we show up for each other!
