Atascadero Democratic Club Monthly Meeting
The speaker for our 2/26 meeting will be Cesar Vasquez, who will be representing the 805 Rapid Response Network, and share ways that we can become more active as trained ICE legal observers. Many of us heard Cesar speak at the 10/18/25 “No Kings” rally in SLO. At 18 yrs. old, Cesar is passionate and committed to protecting immigrants from ICE kidnapping, murder, patrolling the streets in both Santa Maria and SLO County. He leads multiple teams of volunteers and was recently interviewed on the MS Now Jen Psaki show.

Purpose: To review the Sheriff's Office's cooperation with ICE and gather public comments.
Public Participation: In-person comments were accepted, with live Spanish translation; written comments could be emailed.
Context: Activists planned protests due to ICE agents detaining individuals at the jail lobby, pushing for more transparency and real-time data from the Sheriff's Office.

On Saturday, federal agents horrifically shot and killed 37-year-old Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse who cared for veterans, in the Eat Street neighborhood of south Minneapolis after brutally beating him in front of witnesses.
Enough is enough. Exercising our Constitutional right to document and record ICE and other federal agents is more important than ever.
This call will give you the tools to exercise your rights in a moment when federal agents are terrorizing our communities and using excessive force.
